Move Downloaded file (from desktop) to one drive folder

Hi all,

Long-time viewer first time I am posting.

Newbee a few months in (loving it)

I have created a flow to download the latest POS data from our cloud-based system. However, when the file data is downloaded, I can't make a flow that will recognize when a new file is created in my local download folder. Next, the flow needs to check if the file name has specific criteria, then move the file to one drive or share point folder/library.

Help, please

What you're asking for isn't possible with Power Automate. Triggers cannot occur based on local file system changes or events. The closest that you can get is to create a flow that runs on a schedule and uses Power Automate Desktop (requires the license with RPA to use) to check your local folder for any files created in the last however many minutes since the last time it ran. And even then, you need to be logged in to the machine at the time the flow runs using the same user account that you set up the flow to use to connect to your local machine (unless you pay even more for the unattended RPA license).

Your only other option as I see it is to save files to a OneDrive folder on your machine instead of the desktop or downloads folder. Then, when it syncs to the cloud OneDrive, it will then trigger a flow to do what you want with the file.
