Converting Word to PDF - Dynamic ID not working

Hi,
I am creating a flow that takes names out of a spreadsheet, populates them into a word template, saves the template in SharePoint, converts the word document to a pdf and then send the pdf in an email to the respective person.

I am having difficulty with the conversion to PDF step. I tried using the dynamic id and dynamic path and continue to get an error stating the selected file doesn't exist.

I have tried the following trouble shooting:
  • I tried composing a path using this code:
concat('/', join(skip(split(outputs('Create_file')?['body/Path'], '/'), 2), '/'))
  • Adding a delay in between the certificate file being created and the pdf conversion
  • Building a file path using the dynamic naming of the document
  • Adding the Get file command and flow
The only thing I can think of is that the create a file step allowed me to go to the file folder, while the convert to word option only allowed me to select the general library, but either way, I would think the dynamic id would provide that information.

Any ideas are great!

    2 things

    1. Create File in SharePoint can take up to 10 minutes
    2.  use the identifier dynamic property not id

    If these suggestions help resolve your issue, Please consider Marking the answer as such and also maybe a like.

    Thank you!
    Sincerely, Michael Gernaey

    You can use:

    /@{outputs('Create_file')?['body/DisplayName']}

    Make sure Document Library and Folder etc. are the same as in your Create file action.

    Let me know if it worked!

    Thanks for sharing this! Unfortunately, it did not work, but I noticed where you said "Make sure Document Library and Folder etc. are the same as in your Create file action."

    For some reason I am getting two different options when I am in the "Create File" action vs the "Convert Word document to PDF" option. The Create file action allows me to select the specific folder, but the Convert option only allows me to select the general document library. This is where I think the problem may be arising, but I am not sure what to do about it.

    thanks for the reply! I updated the delay to be 10 minutes and I am seeing the documents populate in prior to then, so I think the issue if the file path.
    When I look in the dynamic content options, I do not see "identifier."

    Yes, it is a problem with the location!

    The “Create file” action belongs to the SharePoint connector, but the “Convert Word Document to PDF” action belongs to the Word Online (Business) connector. So input is a bit different.

    Keep your "Create file" action as it is (your screenshot).

    Change the File path in the "Convert Word Document to PDF" action:

    /General/11_Training/[Hidden part]/Certificates/Generated Certificates/@{outputs('Create_file')?['body/DisplayName']}

    Replace the [Hidden part] with what is hidden in your screenshot.
