Multiplexing and how to make sure you are compliant

Hello All,

I have a project I'm working on and I want to make sure before I go any further that I'm not breaking any Microsoft licensing agreements. I thought this would be easy to understand but every article I read just confuses me even more. I want to build a Canvas Power App and have multiple users input and update data. The first version of the app was originally using SharePoint as a data source. I would like to use something more secure than SharePoint. I can't use SQL Server because my IT team doesn't want to give CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) access to those using the Canvas app. I would like to create the app and connect the data to the Dataverse to get around my IT team. The issue is that I need to have a premium license and would then need to get premium licenses for the 20 users. Is it possible for me to get a Service account license and still share the Canvas Power App that's connected to the Dataverse for the users to input and update the data without the need for additional licenses or is that considered multiplexing?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I do not believe the service account will achieve what you want. All of the people who will use the Canvas app will need to have a premium license since the environment you are using has Dataverse. If you just had a SharePoint list and had a Power Automate flow that is in an environment with Dataverse, then just the workflow owner's account would need to have the premium license as long as the flow wasn't manually triggered, which would prompt the user for their credentials and require a premium license.
