Refresh multiple PowerBi datasets

ReportReport

Hi,

i have around 50+ powerBi that needs to refreshed at different frequencies (last 8 days of month kind of stuff). So i am maintaining a sharepoint list with workspace name, report name, frequency, next refresh date, refresh at hour and refresh at minute etc. i will be populating next refresh date using a power automate flow based on frequency.

Now i want to loop through this sharepoint list and refresh powerBi reports that have next refresh date is today and refresh time has already passed. To do this i am using “get items” and “apply to all items”. I have a “refresh dataset” action within “apply to all items” loop. But refresh dataset action is failing. Refresh dataset works fine if i set workspace name and report name from dropdowns instead of setting them based on dynamic values from “get items”. Can someone tell me how to loop through list and refresh all datasets?

Thank you.

    1. you don't refresh reports, you refresh semantic models.  So you need to find the semantic model (dataset) ID instead of the report ID

NOTE:  You will want to use the enhanced refresh API calls to get a request ID back so you can query the refresh status

    2. The Power BI service doesn't care about your "refresh at minute"  precision. It will decide based on current capacity load when to start the refresh, This can be up to 15 minutes out from your specified time, or it may not happen at all if the capacity is too busy.  Use the enhanced refresh API to control that better.
