Problems with buttons in Power Automate Desktop

Good afternoon,

I’m experiencing an issue with several buttons in Power Automate Desktop, though it seems to be the same underlying problem. Here’s the situation:

I recorded the selection of a button (Aplication) called "Portfolio Valuation" and conducted numerous tests over several days, and the button worked correctly. However, today, while performing complete tests, the button stopped working because it couldn't find the window. My first action was to validate the button, and unfortunately, it no longer works. I’ve tried changing the elements (in case the button is dynamic) and experimented with various options and combinations, but none worked.

What’s strange is that when I recorded the same button again, it created a new action called "Portfolio Valuation 2," and this time it worked. I compared the code for "Portfolio Valuation 1" and "Portfolio Valuation 2," and they are identical; nothing has changed, but one works and the other doesn’t.

This issue isn’t limited to just one button; it affects several. I’d like to understand the cause of this malfunction as it might happen again in the future.

Additionally, the last action I took was updating to version 2.46.163.24194, but it doesn’t indicate that the component was modified.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?

    Hi,

One thing to know- was window which is having the button was not in foreground when process was executed ?

to make it foreground - try to use focus window action before doing UI Automation on buttons

Also enable action level error handling like retrying the same action for given retry attempts for a given interval.

    Hope it helps !
    Thanks & Regards,

The focus does not respond correctly, but when the action is generated again, it works fine. When comparing the values, they look the same (although the UI value changes). I don't think it's necessary to re-record all the actions in the flow. any solutions or suggestions?
Also, the only different thing I did was a recent update, which I repeated today, though it was unsuccessful. I consulted the information provided by Microsoft, but it only indicates “Note that something may have changed in the application (for example, a version upgrade) or on the web page underline code, and the selector of the UI element might be different. In this case, you must recapture the UI element.”.

Have you checked that the elements parent element (UI window element) doesn't change every day or every instance?

So open the Window -element of your button that is not working and see if that has actually some value that is different now.

Like in my example the Notepad file name is not dynamic and if I would open another notepad instance with different name the UI elements under this window element would not work (like the "Your button" on the first image).
In this example the ""Name" -attribute would be better to toggle off or try to make it work dynamically.
