How to update custom canvas app theme?

I have created a canvas app based on a CoE theme.

Now I want to update the theme color from one color to another.

Is that possible without recreate my app?

So you have tried below steps and it didn't work?

Update .msapp files

Copy the formula Set(ThemeName, "Your Theme Name") to your clipboard or Notepad.

Go to make.powerapps.com, and then go to your CoE environment where the theming solution is installed.

On the left pane, select Solutions.

Select the Center of Excellence theming solution.

Edit the AppTemplatePhone canvas app.

Select App > OnStart, and replace the first line in the formula with the new formula you copied from Theme Editor. Make sure you don't replace any other formulas in the OnStart function and that the line ends with a semicolon.

Select File > Save as > This Computer to save the file locally.

Download the file.

The idea of having a custom theme is great. But too be honest, it´s really an awful experience working with the theming component. It´s so buggy and so many steps to just change a color. How could this even be released?

Really hope that MS redo this soon!

Theming Redo coming sometime soon and will be applied to the modern controls - there's no date listed for when but it was mentioned in one of their recent blog posts about the modern controls 🙂
