SharePoint update item fail: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

My flow recently failed for this error when I go to update an item in a SharePoint list
item:

Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
clientRequestId: af01c76e-ba5f-4dbc-9bd4-f556ce5ff72c
serviceRequestId: af01c76e-ba5f-4dbc-9bd4-f556ce5ff72c

This flow was working fine previously.

I've tried creating a copy of the flow as well as creating the Update item action again to no avail.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this?

Check your permissions to the underlying data source.  This usually indicates that those permissions have changed.  Also, since this is using a selected item trigger make sure that everyone running the flow when selecting an item has permission to change the list.  For a selected item is a manual trigger and the flow will run using the person's permissions who started the flow.

It was a unique case where a user (who was not the original creator of the record) ran the flow. I updated his permissions to allow him to edit all records, resubmitted the flow (it worked!), then changed his permissions back to edit. Thank You!

Just to help anyone else who finds this thread on a Google search like me, we had the same error message, only the user permissions were set correctly.  The fix in our case was updating the affected user's chrome browser.  Once we updated the browser, the user was allowed to execute and upload to SharePoint again.

    hey ho,

@Island_Automate what exactly means "updating chrome browser"? Refreshing the page, clearing the cache, ctrl+f5 or updating the browser to a new version (installing chrome update)? Thank you in advance.

It means they were using an older version of the Chrome browser and needed to update the application to the current version. So, Installing the Chrome update.
