Allowing Portal Users to Download Populated Word Templates in Power Pages

Hi Power Pages Developers,

I have a requirement where I want to allow portal users to download a Word template populated with selected entity record data, similar to the Word Template functionality in Model Driven Apps.

I want to populate the data in the Word template. To achieve this, I tried to use a Power Automate flow, but the problem I'm facing is that I use the Word Online trigger to access the Word template, which the portal users can't access via OneDrive.

After populating the data, I want to send an email to the logged-in portal users or return the file in Power Pages.

Is there any way to achieve this functionality?

Can I use a workflow for this requirement? If yes, what are the steps to achieve this?

I have not found any helpful material online to complete this requirement.

I have a similar use case and to achieve that functionality one needs a package sharing app to generate Onedrive sharing links that can be e-mailed and controlled via an Power Automate cloud flow with a custom connector. Currently the package sharing app is in development and we have plans for Appsource.

    Hi @Hussnain,

You can create Power Automate with http trigger and return the response as base64 for you file and then download the base64 from your portal.

If you need more assistance please reply back.

Do you have any kind of reference video or screenshots that can help me receive the base64 file in portal?
And Power Automate with HTTP trigger.

    Hi @Hussnain ,

Please review my article here How to Create a Power Automate Flow to Populate a ... - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)

The JS here is written for the model driven app, you modify it to be used on the Power Pages or please let me know to send to you another version for the Portal.

Just be aware that if using a HTTP flow, that it is open to be called publicly by default - so also consider locking it down.  Not sure if all the connectors are available, but if they are consider using a Power Pages Flow instead - as it is more secure https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-pages/configure/power-automate-how-to
