Reassign Approval

Hello Community.

Looking for an answer to this request.

Is there an easy way to reassign an approval maybe from the flow owner? I have an approval block and we want to reassign the approval to somebody else after 48 hours with no response. But this action has to be triggered by the flow owner or somebody else that we decided. Juts in case the original approver is away or in leave etc.

Will be this possible?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards

    @sajarac

    There is no supported way to reassign an approval in Power Automate.

    You can, however, do the following:

    • Set at timeout on the approval (48 hours in your case)
    • Add a second approval
      • Set the run after settings such that this approval only runs if the first approval times out.
      • Alternatively, you can put the first and second approvals inside of scopes and set the run after on the second scope to run if the scope immediately before it fails.

    Let me know if you need an example.

    @ScottShearer , thank you very much for your prompt response.

    If you don't mind could you please share a sample?

    I have been in circles for days trying to figure out this thing.

    Many thanks!

    See below and let me know if you have any questions.  In my example, I escalate to a manager.  My variables are all strings.

    Wow. that was super fast.

    Please allow me today to digest you flow. I will try to replicate. If I get stuck I will bother you again.

    A huge thank you Sir for your prompt response.

    @sajarac

    The Get Manager actions may or may not apply to your scenario.  In my example, I get the manager of the person who created the item.  For the escalated approval, I get the manager of the original approver.  This assumes that this info ins in M365.  In lieu of the Get manager actions, just hard code approvers.

    Sir. Thank you very much for your prompt response and your help.

    You are a master mind.

    That information is exactly what I was looking for.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello @ScottShearer , please apologize to resuscitate this topic. I have applied your solution and it works fantastic. But A new issue came after the implementation.

    Someone ask me what happens if the request is made at the end of Friday? the 48 hrs will start running and on Monday the Escalate scope will be executed.

    Do you know how we can make the duration dynamically ? something for instance: if Today() = FRI then PT96H

    Thanks in advance.
