Adding new MS Form responses to the same online Word document

Hello everyone,

I'm still quite the beginner so bear with me please, is there a way to add new MS Form responses to the same Word document using Power Automate instead of creating a new file each time there's a new response?

I'm aware there's an "update file" action, but this just replaces the previous response with the new response, it doesn't add them.

Thank you in advance 🙂

    Hi,

You can delete the old file and replace it with a file including a response. In the end you will always have 1 file.

Or you can look at some premium connectors like Populate Word Document from Encodian

Thank you for your reply, however, this will leave me with 1 document that has only the most recent response. I'd like to keep adding new responses as they come to the same word doc.

Hi you're gonna need a premium license for that, so you can use the activity "Populate a microsoft word Template" https://learn.microsoft.com/nl-nl/connectors/wordonlinebusiness/#populate-a-microsoft-word-template

Yes, that's what I'm using, however, there's a step after "populate" action, either update file or create file. Create file will create a new file each time the trigger is activated, update file will simply replace the old info with the new response. I'm looking for a way to add each new response to the same word document each time the trigger is activated.

    I see,

An option that definitely works is.

Instead of populating word. use Excel activities like, add a row to excel. This adds a new row under an existing row and 100% works because I use it myself 🙂

While thinking of this solution I came across this post which shows the flow you can use:https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/Excel-to-Word-Document-template/td-p/1450134
