Generate report (word/PDF) using template from selected items in the Gallery

Hi Everyone,

I have app to manage specification of piping materials.

Owners of spec can edit, review and publish details of materials and specifications.

Users simply view screen with the gallery and dropdown filters.

We have Material request form where users copy description of materials from the spec.

Is it possible to generate Material request form filled with selected (checkbox) items from the gallery?

I googled for clue, but all I found to generate from sharepoint list and I am very new to PowerAutomate.

Thanks!

Yes, you can do this using a Power Automate flow triggered by your app. The quick version (and searches on here should show you how to do each of these steps):

    1. Create a flow with a Power Apps V2 trigger. You will need at least one text input parameter which will be string of a JSON object containing all your selected gallery items from the app
    2. Parse this JSON string into an object you can access within the flow
    3. Use the Word connector to Populate a Word document that has been prepopulated with plain text and repeating content controls as necessary to fill out your desired document
    4. If you need, use the OneDrive for Business connector to convert the resulting Word file into PDF format

It's a bit of a process until you've done it a few times.

    Hope that helps,

    Bryan
