How to bring noreply@companyname.com to the power platform environment

Hi team,

I want to send an email when user resets the password. I want to try noreply@companyname.com

However, even if I have assigned it powerapps license, I cannot see it in the environment. This is not an enabled user. What are the best practices to do this? Do I need to activate this user and assign some security role?

@saudali_25  , @Lucas001 , @Mglat  , @ragavanrajan , @Fubar any suggestions please?

Thanks!

Kind Regards,

Hafiz

    Hi @Anonymous,

the reset password function is run by a dynamics flow "Send Password to Contact". Inside that fow you can go to setting and change the mail to your wishes. As you want to use a specific mail, you will have to set up a user or shared mailbox and use that user inside the flow. Just search for the user in the From: input and select it.

Once that is done you have to allow other users to send emails as that user, once in dynamcis and in the exhange admin center.

That way your email will be send as noreply@company.com and each time somebody presses the button on your page.

    Hope that helps.

The following may depend on your licence and if you have access to dataverse queues:

    • Create a Queue in Dataverse, enable it for email (approve it for outbound only)
    • edit the Portal/Power Pages Workflows, Actions and set the Sender to the Queue

A more robust solution is to extend this to

    • Create a configuration Table with a lookup to Queue
    • Create a Queue in Dataverse, enable it for email (approve it for outbound only)
    • Create a Configuration record with Lookup set to the Queue
    • Create a datavere Action to retrieve the Queue
      • input: entity reference Configuration table,
      • output: entity reference Queue
      • in the Action assign the queue on the configuration record to the output variable
    • edit the relevant Portal/Power Pages Workflows, Actions and set the Sender of the emails to the Queue
      • Use the Action to get the Queue
      • Use the output of the Action as the sender of the Emails

And in the ideal world when promoting to higher environments, import the configuration record with the same guid (if not the same guid you will have to reedit and activate the Workflows/Actions), and either import the queue or create again and update the config table.
