Flow - Delay or Delay Until

Hello,

I am new to Flow, just getting started.

I am planning to use flow for automating a business process.

Flow trigger would be "When a new item is created" in SharePoint List.

There are some actions performed after that and then Delay the flow for 90 days from when the flow instance was triggered for an item

I am not sure if its a good idea to Delay the flow for 90 days.

Does anyone know -

  • If the state of the flow (values in variables) would be retained for that long (90 days)
  • What about the status of the Flow instance? Will it be continously running till 90 days?
  • Also are they any charges even if the flow is delayed?

Thank you.

~Raju

    Hi,

Flows are running for 30 days, not more. If no actions are performed in 30 days, flow will fail and you`ll get a mail saying that it failed.

You can resubmit it or create a new item in sharepoint.

    Hello Dorul,

    Thank you for your reply.

Also do you know if there is a charge when flow is waiting due to Delay action.

For example: There is a Delay action with Days configured 10

    Thank you !

What do you mean by that? My first guess would be that you're talking about money 🙂 if that's so, as far as I know, a flow run means from start until it ends, no matter what delay you set. But furthermore how much is costs for how many runs, I'm afraid I can't help you with that.

There is no any charge when flow is waiting due to Delay action.
