Hi,

Is there a way clear a date field in CDS using flow?

Use Case:

Book due Date = 2/24/2020

I need to clear the date and set it back to blank (---)

Thanks for the help

    Hi,
Do you have a flow already setup?

Or did you need help creating the flow?

Basically just update the record with a space in the date field

    Hi Josh,

I tried the space and got the following error

{"error":{"code":"0x80040239","message":"DateTime is less than minumum value supported by CrmDateTime. Actual value: 01/01/0001 00:00:00, Minimum value supported: 01/01/1753 00:00:00","innererror":{"message":"DateTime is less than minumum value supported by CrmDateTime. @MaxPP

What about if you try to use the expression null?

Hi Josh, same error with null expression

@MaxPP - I just tested using NULL from an Expression to clear the field and it works just fine...IF you use the newer Common Data Service (current environment) connector. The only way you can use this connector is to create the flow from a Solution.

Within Power Automate, click on "Solutions" on the left-hand side. Fill in all the appropriate information to create the Solution. Once created, open the Solution, then click "+New" at the top and choose "Flow". This will launch a new browser tab. In the search field when searching for connectors, type in "Common Data Service". You will see 2 listed...be sure to choose the one called "Common Data Service (current environment)".

By using this new connector, there are other things to be aware of, but that can be addressed if needed.

I am not sure why I do not see the (current Environment connector). I created a solution and then added a new flow from inside the solution.

    Thanks

You wont be able to add the Flow to the solution..

The only way would be to create a New Flow inside the solution.

My Original flow was created inside the solution. What is the expression syntax you are using to set the null?

Has anyone actually got this to work?  It seems incredible that something so easily achieved in a Standard Workflow can't be done in Flow or Logic Apps.

I have (like others) tried all variants of Null including the Expression with the various CDS connectors and none of them seem to work.

Looks like I am going to have to resort to creating a Flow for part of my update then trigger a Workflow to clear the fields afterwards unless anyone can help.
