Hi,

Is there any way to use default VM image to run Edge end excel?

I created RPA hosted bot together with my work account:

How to run Edge and Excel using this default image? Is it possible or do I need to use custom VM image?

Thank you in advance for help.

    Hey @Jack0071 ,

The default image provided by Microsoft comes with Edge that enables you to do web-based automation, but it doesn't come with Microsoft Excel.

You will need to use a custom VM image if you want to do desktop automation with Excel: Hosted machine groups - Power Automate | Microsoft Learn

Alternatively, depending on your use-case, you could perform actions using the Excel connector from within Power Automate Cloud Flow. You can find more information here: Excel Online (Business) - Connectors | Microsoft Learn

    Hope this helps!

    Hi @kenseongtan ,
Thank you for your answer. Do you know if there are any plans to introduce default VM image with Office installed?

    Hi @Jack0071 ,

We are considering having more than one default VM images to cater for different use-cases. However, we are still gathering feedback on the need for this, and your input is well taken into account. We appreciate your input on this matter.

    Hi Kenesongtan,

Could you confirm if the default windows image includes the PAD Edge Browser Extension?

    Thanks,

    Mohammed.

Yes, default windows image includes Microsoft Edge and the necessary extension to run automation with Microsoft Edge.
