For example if you have a Switch with muliple possible cases, it would really speed things up if we could copy the first case over to subsequent ones and tweak. I see the "copy to clipboard" option but there's no way I can see to paste from the clipboard into a new action.

You can copy to clipboard as discovered and then navigate to my clipboard when you click on new step.
Next use your keyboard and Ctrl+V. Most actions can be copied but there are exceptions that are greyed out.
The next tip is to put multiple actions into a scope and copy the scope. You can copy multiple actions between flows etc. I have used this method to deliver solutions on my blog. Parse A CSV To JSON Array Quickly - DamoBird365
