SharePoint LookUp column for Names

Hi, 

 

Using lookup on a column to pull in names for our app when an item is assigned. The main list of names gets updated every week, we noticed that the names are changing for the assigned when names are added or removed. Anyone know how to prevent this?

    Hi @jneuen ,

    One of the perils of lookup columns (which I do not use) is that the "reference" is actually the ID of the record in the other list being looked up. If you start changing or removing names from the list. it will affect existing records. I suggest you do the lookup in Power Apps and simply use Text columns.
