Mandatory fields can be left blankd during excel import???

Hi all,

I have a column in a table labled as 'Business required'  and if left blank on a form I get an error message:

"Description: Required fields must be filled in." as expected.

However if I leave the field blank during an Excel Import, the import shows successfully and the record is stored as such in the Dataverse!!??

Doesn't seem right to me..

Kind regards,

Piet Poelsma

Yes it is how that works, similar to how you can bypass field requirements in Plugin code when creating records. I assume it's to make importing easier for the end-user or simply past the validation stage in the pipeline.

You can enforce field requirement in Dataverse Plugins that will be adhered to in data import if that's an option for you.

    Hi ivan_25

Thanks for your swift reply. If this is how that works then this seems wrong to me.

If you define a field to be Business required hence mandatory and an end user in this case can bypass that, it endangers the integrity of the data as it is not Business required for nothing..

I'll raise this with Microsoft as well.

    Kind regards

    Piet
