Extract text from scanned (pdf) multi-page documents

Hi All,

As part of a flow I need to extract text from scanned multi-page pdfs.

As the documents are scanned I will need to employ an OCR type approach.

There seems to be a few options available in PAD to extract text from single images but nothing to extract dense text from large reports/documents.

To achieve my goal it looks like I am going to need to use an external service like aws textract but I am not sure how to go about linking PAD and Textract.

It would be very helpful if somebody could provide me with a basic outline of the steps I would need to take to make to get aws textract working with Power Automate Desktop?
Many thanks in advance.

    Hi @Rory_Walsh

I think this is possible using textract api .

see below for documentation regarding it.

    https://docs.aws.amazon.com/textract/latest/dg/API_Operations.html

There is action in PAD named invoke web service which helps to perform API operations.

using that you can call textract API to extract details.

Other way would be to use Power Platform AI Builder feature. This would also help to extract data from scanned pdfs as well,

    Refer This: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/ai-builder/overview

    Hope this helps !

Thanks Nived; your response was very helpful.

In the end the easiest route I found to get it working was by using the cmd prompt actions in PAD to drive the aws CLI.
