Is this possible? Outlook email and attachment

Hi,

I am relatively new to Power Apps but have experience with SharePoint and Power Automate.

We currently have use a Macro in Outlook that takes an email, along with an attachment, which references a third party application and uses that to compile an XML file on a server and is then uploaded to a document web portal.

While trying to find an alternative solution i came across the prospect of being able to create a custom Add-in that links to a canvas app which leads me on to my question.

Is it possible to create a canvas app that takes loads the specific email / attachment as an attachment within the canvas app which would be a form so that a user can fill in some details in the app then said app creates an XML file with this information and places a copy of the email onto a server for uploading.

Sorry if that's not clear but happy to answer any questions and if this is not possible does anyone have any suggestions on what else can be done as we want to move away from the macro.

    Hi @Gelegeta86 ,

Maybe this is possible in PowerApps, but to me it seems easier to collect the mail/attachment and metadata in PowerApps and then trigger a Power Automate flow from there for any data manipulation and saving .xml files to servers:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/canvas-apps/using-logic-flows

    Hiya,

    Thank you for you reply.

Do you know how I would collect the mail/attachment and metadata in PowerApps?

Essentially what I need to start with is something that will allow me to reference the mail / attachment, add some additional meta data as the web portal it will be sent to as has a document / sub document type that is manually entered for example an email comes through from Xbox, I need to upload that email to our web portal with a document type Console and sub document type Xbox which is contained in the XML but i need a way for a user to enter that information initially

    Hi,

I don't suppose you are able to provide any further guidance on how i could accomplish this as can't find much resource around it

    Hi @Gelegeta86 ,

To build this, first add the Office365Outlook connector to your app.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/office365/

Then add a gallery to a screen with the following Items property: Office365Outlook.GetEmails({top:10})

In the gallery template add labels with the properties you would like to see, for instance ThisItem. From, ThisItem.Subject, ThisItem.DateTimeReceived, etc.

Then create use any other control of your liking to view more details, linking back to the selected item in the gallery: Office365Outlook.GetEmailV2(Gallery.Selected.Id)
