CDM - cannot change field type

I have an Entity in CDM, I initially set a field type of Address. I now want to change this field to just Text.

There is no data in the Entity at this time, yet I get the following error message on Save,

this error appears even if I try to delete the field.

This Request id message is not helpful or am I missing where I can see the actual details as to why this is failing?

Thank you

    Hi KC,

I just tested with an entity with a field type of Address, I can successfully change it to Text and save it. I cannot get the error message. So would you please change another entity to test this to see if this is entity specified?

    Regards,

    Mona

    Hi Mona,

Sorry for the late response, I was not able to duplicate the error in another entity either.

I deleted the entity that caused the error and will rebuild it once more.

    Hi KC,

Greate to know that your issue is solved after you rebuild the entity. If you got further question, please feel free to get back.

    Regards,

    Mona

    Hi Mona,

I'm afraid I cannot mark that as the answer.

Deleting an Entity is not an acceptable solution. In development it's not that big a deal, but if this were in production with several thousand or not so uncommon, over a million entries, this would be a major issue.

So far I've had to delete entities on several occasions because there was no alternative to solving the issue.

Something simple as a field type change should not prevent you from changing the type or even worse prevent you from deleting the field itself, which is why I resorted to deleting the entire Entity. There was no data in the Entity and no related Entities so there should not have been any conflicts.

I like the concept of the CDS and I'm sure it will get better as time goes on, but at this time given the issues I've experienced and that there are no real troubleshooting tools available, no access to log files etc..., the only troubleshooting help we have are the error messages, which as I've said before are confusing and of no help.

The CDS is not suitable for my purposes at this time.

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards,

    Keith
