When changes in an excel file are made on Excel Desktop, they automatically update the same excel file in a sharepoint file.

So I have an Excel file that is a list of contact information. I have this same Excel file in Share point. I want to automatically update the Excel file on Share point when changes are made to the Excel file on the desktop version.  This is what I have. When I test it, I get an error saying the the ID in the "Update File Properties" parameters is null and can't be empty. Any idea how to do what I am trying to do?

@hrics12 If you need to update the exact same file, is there a reason you aren't editing the SP file directly? You can open a SP file in the Desktop App through the Excel Web app by clicking The Editing (you should see this if you have editing permissions) button in the top right corner then select Open in Desktop App

Alternatively, you can click on the three dots of the file in SharePoint, the select Open and then Open in app

So the reason I want to edit outside of Sharepoint is because I want to do an API call in excel to have the data updating dynamically. Then have the desktop app that's been updated dynamically, update the file in Sharepoint.

@hrics12 Does clicking the Open in Desktop app work for you? Can you run the API call that way? Alternatively, would syncing the folder your Excel file is in work for you? You'd be able to access that synced file directly from your desktop.
