Outlook Mail (V2) v Mail (V3) connector

Hi,

I've seen a few of the flows in my organisation using the 'Mail - Send an email notification (V3)' rather than the Outlook - Send an Email (V2).

Apart from requiring agreeing to T&C's for Mail and the limitations of the number of mails that can be sent, what is the difference??

I've always been advised and will do use the Outlook connector, so is it worthwhile advising these users to change the Mail connector to the Outlook one???

    Hi @ClarkyPA365,

This Mail connector is different than the Office 365 Outlook connector since it does not require access to a mailbox to send an email. Since no mailbox is required, there is no monitored mailbox to send a response to.

So if you want to send an anonymous email to another user, the Mail connector is better.

There are many scenarios where we want to send an email out but don’t want to create expectations to the recipient that if they reply that it will be sent back to a place that is actively being monitored. These scenarios may include notifications or reminders where the author of the flow has no interest in receiving updates but wants to ensure that the notification is sent.

However, to communicate in company with each other, Office365Outlook is better because we need to track the communication and keep the evidence.

    Hi,

So, in the scenario of where I want to send an email to a department with details from an MS Form the Mail connector would be a better option then the Outlook connector?

As the sender address would be the unique one and not my email?

    Hi @ClarkyPA365,

Hope you could check my reply one more time.

I have mentioned that you could use the Mail connector if you want to send an anonymous email.

If the the anonymous email is not necessary, and you want to send form details to a department, I think Office365 is better.

So I understand that there is Mail Connector and Office 365 Connector and one is V2 and one is V3.
    Which is which?

Depending on what you want Outlook to do there are different Versions

It's always best to use the latest version.  What I have noticed that if I update the version in an old app there may be a bit of additional configuration.

See discussion above to find out what the difference is between the two connectors function.

    Hope this helps??
