Extract data from web page failed - multiple selectors with different from selectors are not supported

Hi,

I have a flow that uses Extract data from web page action and it was working fine on a VM until last week. It's getting the below error from the screenshot. Nothing's changed from the webpage.

When I try to edit the action, it's giving the same error when I navigate to the webpage. Any idea why it happened and how to fix it?

I tried running the flow on my laptop, it's not getting this error and ran successfully.

    Hi @DReyes07

Error states that multiple ui elements are matching same selector

    Could you verfiy that ?

hi, how do i check that? Here's the table i'm trying to extract data from. I need to get the list of values from Number column.

I am able to extract it when I edit the flow on my laptop, see screenshot below.

But it is failing when I edit/run on a VM with the error I uploaded on the original post.

I ran into the same issue. The way that the new PAD version captures selectors is different from how it used to. So I think due to this change, the older code is confusing the newer version of how PAD handles selectors now. The best way I think is to just re-capture all the elements with the new method, instead of using the full xpath like it used to. Your laptop probably still is running the older version of PAD which is why it still works, and your VM is updated to the new PAD version which came out last week.

Hi, you are right. My laptop was still running on a later version. I have updated it and tried to recapture the elements, but it just freezes when I right-click on the element. 😥

Ah yes, the same exact issue also happened to me where I was trying to re-capture the elements but now the elements cause my PAD to freeze up when it didn't with previous versions. It's a real pain, but the only way I was able to solve this was to go into the 'Advanced settings' of the 'Live web helper' window that pops up when you do 'Extract data from web page' and type in the actually html attributes for the selector itself:

There's a couple different ways to do this. Neither is as user-friendly as using your mouse to select the elements anymore, and both require you to understand a little bit of coding. The 2 methods I can think of:

    1. Copy/paste the step from PAD into a text editor, like Notepad or a code editor/IDE. Here you'll be able to see the exact selectors that you were able to use in the past, so you can copy/paste those values into your new step's selectors. You'll need to learn how to be able to read the fx code a little bit to know which values to extract.
    2. Go to the website you want to extract data from, and Inspect the element(s) you want to extract using your browser's developer DOM tool (usually it's the F12 button in most browsers). Then you can read the html attributes from the page and try to craft the PAD selectors based on that.

Unfortunately neither solutions are very user-friendly so the other option could be to downgrade your PAD version until Microsoft can fix this. But it might benefit a little to learn how to read code because it might be helpful for the future.

I manage to make the flow work again by using Extract data from window instead. Added few more actions to split, trim and get the data that I needed but at least it worked, 😀
