I have developed a small power app in teams.
For the sake of backup/reuse, I exported the app by the option Export-As-Solution
It got exported with all dependency and save as Zip file.
Now my query for my learning is as below :
I can import that downloaded solution in the same environment and rename as many screen will be common?.
I can import that downloaded solution in another environment, example my division changes but in the same organization?.
(as in this situation my email address changes according to the company division address, I am worried to use the app back it need to have the same ID)
I can send that downloaded solution to my friend, so that he can import to his teams to check and develop more and send me back, then I can upload in my teams app?.
In all these situation what happens to Tables (does the solution downloaded takes the data also within it and get copied as it in the imported location/envoirnment?.
Please advise or provide me a link or video where I can learn more and explore more.
As a developer it is good to know before going into a big project as it is safety of backup and can also have assistance of senior developer.
Sorry back to you again for more info about the same situation.
You are master and may be you can guide me more to solve the situation I am going throught.
I developed the App In Teams Power app. The app is basically to service routine maintenance
It has around 12 dependencies and all are Tables, as other than Outlook I have not used any other connector for the app.
Now I need to give few customer to use the app. They also have MS Teams installed on their machine.
I have explained them in my demo how to use the App.
As you mentioned earlier , that other person having Power App can import the solution in their environment and can use it.
Worried and confused, so what to clarify more one point:
a) As the tables with me was having data, but you said the
it will export the schema and metadata but not the actual data in the tables.
I understand by this when the user will import the solution, the complete table will be found without data in it. along with app. so he can populate via app.
If I am wrong please correct me, as data saving solution is mandatory to be done.
b) Based on your experiences, if possible also guide if any more list of guidance to be taken care when delivering the app to others
1. Importing into the Same Environment and Renaming:
- Yes, you can import the solution into the same environment and rename it. This is a common practice for creating backups or duplicating an app with slight modifications.
2. Importing into Another Environment within the Same Organization:
- Generally, you should be able to import the solution into another environment within the same organization. However, you should ensure that the environment settings, configurations, any connectors or resources used in the app are available in the new environment.
- If you change the email, maybe you will need to re-authenticate in the Connections section on left menu of Power Apps homepage.
3. Sharing with a Friend for Collaboration:
- Yes, you can share the exported solution with your friend. They can import it into their environment, make modifications, and then export it back to you. You can then import their changes into your environment.
4. Handling Data Tables:
- When you export a solution, it will export the schema and metadata but not the actual data in the tables.

On the very first day of my Power Apps career, I watched and learned a lot from Reza. Here is his channel: https://www.youtube.com/@RezaDorrani
