Hi!
Sorry if this is a repeat question, but I've scoured the forums and can't seem to the flow to work. It seems like a pretty standard cut and dry flow, but I'm having difficulty!
Situation: Trying to connect a form to a list. I want the form results to import directly into the list. Started creating a flow in Power Automate with a template. Everything was going fine until I realized that two of the list columns do not have a correlating dynamic content. Therefore, I am unable to connect that form question to the list column. I don't know how to make it connect.
Please note the following:
- List was created after form. Form has different methods of collecting information (ie: single line, option, date, numbers), but I created the list to be all single line responses. I did this because when I tried matching the methods exactly, the flow wouldn't let me plug in a dynamic content.
Please advise. Thank you!
Shared (group) forms don't show in the dropdown. AS you found you need to input the GUID for the form manually as a custom entry. To answer your questions
1) You want the number following '&id=' when you open the form. So the form ID, not the question.
2) Since you will be processing the answers when you put them into the SharePoint list they don't need to match exactly. Its easier if they do, but you can adjust the datatype as needed.
Also, to answer your question, I've started the flow from scratch and no dice as well. If I can't get it today, I'll delete all my flows pertaining to this and leave it alone for the weekend with the hopes that all will reset.
Ok. I think I may have more information.
Looks like I was going off of another form that was labeled the same. I thought it was the form because it was one of the drop down options but realized that I had 2 forms labeled very similarly (one shared and one built by me). I didn't realize that the drop down options only showed forms I made and doesn't show shared forms.
*LESSON LEARNED: Sharepoint stores all the forms I created so I need to make sure I delete those*
Once I realized that, I found a work around to get a share form in the flow, but now basically all the dynamic content is missing.
*NOTE TO OTHER READERS: I copied and pasted the URL of the shared form but only the letters and numbers after id=. I then pasted it in the boxes where I would have to choose from the drop down.*
All that being said, I have some questions to make sure I'm starting off on the right foot.
1. If I am cut/pasting the id number form the URL into the "enter custom value" option, do I cut and paste the id number from the questions portion or the responses portion of the form? Or are they the same?
2. Does the form and the list have to match up perfectly? For example, if the form's answers were selected via radio button (choices) and the list is a type in answer, is that okay? Or should we change the sharepoint list columns to reflect the form exactly?
Please advise. Thanks!
If they were added to the MS form later then the problem is still that the system is caching the schema. Only in this case its the schema of the form. Again, the only way to fix it is to delete the trigger and connection and then recreate it from scratch. That should pick up the updated form.
One is a single line of text and the other is choice. The form is a mix of text, choice, numbers, and dates but to streamline it, I just made all the fields in the list text. There are other choice/radio button questions on the forms but those transitioned over without a hitch.
I do however, recall that these 2 items on the form were added later a few months ago. I don't know if that is causing an issue. Thank you for the continued assist!
That shouldn't cause a problem. Are the two columns you don't see single line of text columns? If you do a get items do you see those columns?
Thanks for the response! No, the columns were all created at the same time prior to the flow created. However, I did create a ton of other lists and tried connecting those when I realized it wasn't connecting. Could it just be confused? I deleted all the other lists but don't know if it caused any trouble.
What two columns aren't showing up? Are they columns that were added to the list after the flow was first created? If they are then you need to delete the connection to the SharePoint list and recreate it from scratch or wait overnight for the connection to refresh. The problem is that the schema of the list is cached and it takes hours for it to update.
