In Desktop flow of Power Automate, while using "Retrieve Email messages", I am getting error while doing Run. Error showing "Failed to connect to IMAP server imap.outlook.office365.com"

    The error "Failed to connect to IMAP server imap.outlook.office365.com" in your Power Automate Desktop flow is likely due to one of the following common causes:


    1. Modern Authentication Requirement

    Microsoft has disabled basic authentication (like IMAP with username/password) for many tenants as of late 2022. IMAP now typically requires OAuth 2.0 authentication.

    Solution:

    • IMAP with basic auth (username/password) may no longer work.
    • You need to use Microsoft Graph API or Office 365 Outlook connector in cloud flows instead of IMAP in desktop flows.

    2. IMAP Not Enabled for the Mailbox

    Even if IMAP is technically available, it must be enabled per mailbox.

    Check:

    • Go to Microsoft 365 Admin Center → Users → Active Users → Select the user → Mail → Manage email apps.
    • Ensure IMAP is enabled.

    Hi,

    It might issue due to Environment administrator access.
    Similar kind of error i faced due to organization environment admin will be restricting user to access via IMAP.
