Saving embedded canvas apps in model-driven forms

Hi

I was wondering if it's possible to somehow include an extra 'save' statement within a Model Driven form when a canvas app is embedded.

When you change data on the embedded canvas app in a form, it is only saved when a users saves the form and discarded when a user discards the form changes.

At the moment in our POC we have a separate save button on the embedded canvas app but this is bound to fail.

Or how do other users tackle this scenario?

Thanks!

    @NativeNass_ - not clear on the question.

    Do you mean you want to save the host model driven app form with changes saved from the embedded canvas app?

    yes indeed, sorry for the confusion.

    This way the end users just have to press the normal model driven save button and everything is saved

    @NativeNass_ -

    The Model Driven App save button cannot be used to trigger a save in the Canvas App, but you can save the host Model Driven App Form with changes saved from an embedded Canvas App. To do this, enter the following onto your Patch or SubmitForm Button:

    SubmitForm('Your Form');
    ModelDrivenFormIntegration.SaveForm()

    However, this is a confusing user experience, because the user can see both the Save button in the host Model Driven App Form, AND the save button in the embedded Canvas App. We cannot expect the user to "know" that a save event made from a Model-Driven App is not going to save changes made in the embedded Canvas App.

    The workaround I personally use is to hide the save button from view on the host form via Ribbon Workbench whenever embedded canvas app tab is open.
