Hello All..
This is a bit of a longshot, but here goes..
I recently came across PowerApps / Power Automate and decided to look a little deeper into providing solutions on the PA platform. And I have to say that, despite some unexplained connection issues I like what I am seeing..
So here is what I want to do. I have a few local small business contacts / friends who I want to develop PA applications for to kick this business off. They have maybe 4-12 employees each and have some specific small projects that would be suited to PA solutions. Crucially they already have Microsoft 365 subscriptions (though I am not sure if these are from 3rd party resellers or directly managed, which is probably relevant).
From testing I have found that I can develop apps and share with guest users, and those guest users can then use the app as long as they have their own MS365 licence. However I don't think this model is appropriate for production applications for a number of reasons:
- They are using "my" sharepoint repository
- I would therefore be responsible for "their" data.
- If I tried to "move" these solutions to where ever their MS365 licence resides then it would break the sharepoint connections.
I suspect that this issue has been broached previously and I suspect that "Environments" and "Tenants" are part of the solution. However I can't find anywhere that suggests an appropriate model for providing these solutions.
There are probably some (many?) members here who are providing solutions to customers. These would have to be in a managed environment (how could you support an app where you can't manage the environment?). So how is this structured from a management and licencing point of view?
As a small start up it is a bit cheeky of me to ask others to share their business model. As I said it's a bit of a long shot. I want to stay the right side of licencing and data management responsibilities. And I am not adverse to paying for consulting advice on the matter if that's what it takes. If anyone wants to contact me directly offline my email is rory.forde@alviss.ie
Thanks in advance...
