Hi there
Hope you are all well 😊
I'm new to Power Automate and wondered if someone can give me a few pointers.
I have a Software Asset Register that I have put together in Excel and have uploaded into a SharePoint list i.e.,
Title PurchaseDate ReviewDate ReviewSchedule
7-zip 03/08/2023 03/08/2024 1 year
Audacity 03/08/2023 03/08/2024 1 year
I have created a Flow with a reminder email to be sent to a shared inbox 14 days before the ReviewDate, so far so good. What I would like to do thereafter is create an Approval to give the option to either reject the software or approve. If approved, then the date at which the software is reviewed becomes the new date from which the 1 year is calculated again. Basically, I want to be able review pieces of software every year (in or around) and a new 12 months added to the cycle once reviewed - not sure if this is the best way to address it, too so any advice would be gratefully received!
Thank you so much
Good Afternoon!
I'll split this response into two parts since I'm unsure about what part of your question is.
The part I am confused about is:
How do you plan on updating the item once you approve or reject it? Did you intend on using some sort of connector to send back an update automatically (and if so, which connector)? Or, were you asking for what connector would be best to send this update? If the latter is the case, I recommend either a 'Send Email With Options' or 'Post A Choice of Options as the Flow Bot to a User' which use Outlook and Teams respectively.
To answer the part about the 'and a[dd] new 12 months added to the cycle once reviewed' that can be simply done using a number of methods:
If you intend to do a year from when the person responded to the Email, I usually use something along this lines of this:
Rather, If you plan on simply adding a year to the existing ReviewDate, replace the utcNow() above with the time listed in Sharepoint.
Please let me know if you'd like more explanation, but I left this brief in case the simpler answer was was you were looking for,
Best Regards,
