Version history doesn’t appear in Power Automate (flow inside a Solution)

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with Power Automate where Version history is not showing for a cloud flow, even though the flow is inside a Solution.

What I’m seeing

  • The “Version history” panel opens, but it’s empty (no versions listed).

  • The flow runs normally and I can see Run history without problems.

Environment / setup

  • Cloud flow in Power Automate (make.powerautomate.com)

  • Flow is included in a Solution

  • I’m using the new designer, but I also tried switching it off / using different browsers and an InPrivate window.

Troubleshooting already tried

  • Turning off the new designer and refreshing

  • Opening the flow from the flow details page (not from inside the editor)

  • Clearing cache / using InPrivate / using another browser

  • Confirming I have access to the environment and can edit the flow

Has anyone run into this before? Is there a known limitation or admin setting that can hide Version history for flows in Solutions (or in certain environments/tenants)? Any suggestions on where else to check for the version list would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have you tried to create new version forcefully, like adding an action and save it and remove it. Is it triggering new version?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

This is something a few people have run into, and in most cases it’s not an issue with your flow but with how version history is currently handled in flows inside Solutions.

A couple of points that may help clarify:

    1. Version history only shows after a save/publish cycle
Version history is created when the flow is saved and updated. If the flow hasn’t gone through multiple save/publish cycles (especially after being added to a Solution), the panel can appear empty.

    2. Solutions + new designer behavior
When working with flows inside a Solution, version history can sometimes not display correctly in the UI, particularly with the new designer. Even though versions exist, they may not always be surfaced in the panel.

    3. Check if changes are actually creating versions
Try making a small change (for example, update a description or rename a step), then:

    • Save the flow

    • Exit and reopen it from the Solution

This can sometimes trigger the version to appear.

    1. Environment / feature limitations
There isn’t a specific admin setting to disable version history, but behavior can vary depending on:

    • Solution-aware flows

    • New vs classic designer experience

    • Backend sync delays

    1. Alternative validation
Even if version history is not visible, your flow is still functioning normally (as you confirmed via run history). In some cases, this ends up being more of a UI limitation rather than a functional issue.

Based on similar scenarios, this is often related to UI inconsistency with solution-aware flows, rather than permissions or configuration.

If possible, you can also try:

    • Exporting the solution and re-importing into another environment to compare behavior

    • Checking if the issue is reproducible with a newly created flow inside the same solution

If you’re able to confirm whether new versions appear after a fresh save/update, that would help narrow it down further.

    Hope this helps.
