Flow for refreshing Excel on the Web spreadsheet Workbook Links when certain files are modified?

Hello! I posted a question about view-only users not being able to refresh Workbook Links in Excel online and was wondering if I could get some guidance on creating the flow I need to restore our business process.

Essentially I have "Master" spreadsheets with rates that 'feed' other spreadsheets via Workbook Links. Edit-access users can refresh the sheets just fine, but I need a flow that gets triggered when a Master file is updated to auto-refresh Workbook Links in the subsequent spreadsheets. That way our View-only users can still see the most current data without having access to the Master sheets.

Does anyone know the best way to go about this? All files are housed within a Document Library on a Sharepoint site. We're trying to go all-in with Sharepoint, but this is a significant reoadblock due to the number of sheets that need refreshed.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

You can use the When an Item or File is modified SharePoint Action
You can create a Trigger Condition so that it only looks for Files (not folders or items)
The trigger condition will tell you what Master file(s) were modified
Now you can use Scripts to refresh the data in the other linked files from the master or in the files that need to refresh

You would want to store information about the other files, and or the folders that thy are in so they can be accessed without hard coding
There are alot of details that are not possible go through without treating this like I am building it, but as you have questions they can be answered.

But 100% you can do this with Power Automate.
