Cannot use copied flow from .txt file

Hi,

I would like to request advice and assistance. My colleague copied flow onto a .txt file, as usual, I had no problem copying and paste them on the PAD. But now, I can't copied and paste the flows anymore. For versions, we had different versions, but we already re-installed the same latest ver for our machine, but still the version is different.

Any advice so that I can copy the flow from .txt and paste them back onto PAD ?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @RookAils1

Could you confirm when you are copying from text file, you have clicked on flow designer workspace and press ctrl+v ?

Yes, I Selected all(CTRL+A) from .txt and pasted in between the action in designer (Ctrl+V). Meaning I should be able to pasted the copied actions above the selected action in PAD.

Yes, my version was 2.35.159.23221 and my colleague is 2.35.00219.23220.

Have they copied the flow again to a new .txt file after upgrading to version 2.35.000219.23220? If they installed an update, they should do the copy again.

Alternatively, try coping the flow in chunks of code. It is usually only 1 or 2 actions where the syntax has changed, while everything else is okay. So, you can copy most of the flow, and then simply create the few actions that cannot be copied, manually.

Understood and thanks for the alternative solution but may I which one these 2 are latest version, because when we "Check for updates", PAD stated that both of the version is the latest version, and I cant really get the installer with the same version as her online.

Versions depend on the region your account is registered to. They are not released globally at the same time. The one you have (2.35.159.23221) is the latest currently available, but it may not be available in your regions. You can find more info about the released versions here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/released-versions/power-automate-desktop (but this page is often a bit behind actual releases).

I sometimes get later versions on my Windows 11 machine than I do on my Windows 10 machine.

Regardless, if you are both on 2.35.xxx.xxxxx, it should still work fine, if they copy their flow again to a new file. Syntax changes usually apply on major updates (such as 2.34 to 2.35), not minor patches and hotfixes.

However, if they have any premium features in their flow and you do not have a premium account, copying and pasting will also not work. Premium features include the following action groups:

    • Work queues
    • Logging
    • SharePoint
    • Office 365 Outlook
    • OneDrive for Business

I assume that, because you're trying to share a flow this way by copying and pasting it to text files, at least one of you does not have a premium license. If your colleague does have it, but you do not, you must make sure that premium features are not included in the flow, because you cannot use them.

Thanks to @Agnius and @Nived_Nambiar for the assistance. I finally had accessed to the flow by activating the trial for premium and request access to the flow. Then, I started to compare the syntax between both of our versions, Turns out, there's this "FUNCTION (subflowname) GLOBAL" and "END FUNCTION" on every flows that she copied but mine doesn't. After removing those 2 lines, I am finally able to copy the flow as usual on PAD.

Thank again for the assistance and insights.
