Unattended Mode Inquiry

Hello all,

First time poster, long time reader of the forums here.

I'm considering upgrading and getting the license for unattended RPA, and have a few questions about how it works.

I understand that we designate a machine/user to process the flows with, but I'm curious:

For things that I perform in a browser with the desktop platform, some of how my flows operate is dependent on certain browser configurations to get things to work the way I intend. When running in unattended with this designated user, will all settings and configurations for that user be maintained?

Additionally, am I understanding correctly that the license would be assigned to a specific user profile (lets say robot@company.com)? And things would work so long as that user profile is not in an active session at the time of trying to run the flows?

I've tried going through some of the documentation on this but at least for me it has felt limited. If anyone can point me to better information regarding unattended mode outside of the basic offering via Microsoft's site, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and if I can clarify anything, please let me know.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Mbrew95 ,

    As per my knowledge , I have written few lines regarding your issue.

    1.Browser Configurations: When running in unattended mode, Power Automate creates a remote desktop (RDP) session on the machine to run unattended desktop flows. The default screen resolution of the remote desktop session might be different than the one used during flow authoring. This might create different conditions, such as smaller screen size, less visible elements in target app, and so on, for the flows that run in unattended mode. This can result in errors if a target element isn’t found, or even in interacting with the wrong element if keyboard or mouse actions are used. To prevent this behavior, set the proper screen resolution on unattended mode.

    2.License Assignment: Yes, you’re correct. The license would be assigned to a specific user profile. Power Automate uses the selected desktop flow connection to automatically sign in to your machine and run the unattended desktop flow. When the flow is complete, it signs out from the device and reports its activity. However, Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices can’t run unattended desktop flows if any active Windows user sessions are present (even a locked one). On Windows Server, if you have a locked Windows user session open with the same user as the desktop flow connection, you receive an error.

    (Note:- if you got your solution you can mark as solution and gives kudos)

    Thanks & Regards

    @Mbrew95

     Regarding the above question, yes all you profile will be maintained if you configure your unattended bot with same user account. Hope this part is clear for you. Apart from that as @VishnuReddy1997 mentioned please make sure the breakpoint settings of your screen else you may get element not found error.

    Regarding license assignment its working in different way. it will not be tagged with specific user level but yes its assigning at environment level. Please refer the below screenshot.

    An unattended license, also known as a process license, can be utilized by any user, but only one bot may use it at a time per license.
