How to rearrange case switch conditions in a flow

I have created a flow that has a switch with multiple case conditions.

Cases have been added to the flow over time and they are simply in the order that they were created. Since there is a logical flow to the conditions and there is an order that these conditions should happen, I would like to reorder them in the flow to match. But I cannot find a way to do this. You would think that simply dragging would work, but nothing happens. Sometimes it looks like I am trying to drag the entire switch block. I've considered exporting and rearranging the items in the exported files and then re-importing. But I haven't tried and I'm not sure if this is supported.

Hopefully this is clear enough as I think it is a fairly simple ask.

    Hi,

It is supported to click and drag actions to another spot in a Power Automate flow so I'm not sure what exactly you are asking here. As long as the spot if valid you can click and drag actions from any part of the flow to another. Try dragging the actions below other actions instead of above them.

    Regards,

    Alex

@alrez, I am not trying to rearrange an action, I am trying to rearrange a case within a switch action. A Switch is made up of a bunch of Cases and one will fire that matches a condition. The order technically does not matter. But for clarity and not having to scroll all over the place when I want to check the flow of the switch conditions. I want to arrange them in a specific order. You CANNOT drag a Case within the switch to another spot. At least I have not been able to find a way.

@Luis, did you find a solution? I am struggling with the same issue.

I am also curious about this as it is really cumbersome to move the actions within a case to reorder the priority. Is there a solution to this?

Co-signed again in 2023 if anyone has a solution. It's kind of mind boggling that this isn't available in 2023... switch cases get complicated and being able to order them without rebuilding the entire thing seems like one of those "how could this not be a feature already?" things in 2021...and yet here we are still unless I'm missing something...

2024 - I am so really annoyed by not being able to easily change the display order of the cases. It seriously "attacks" my brains need to maintain strict order and being able to reflect the structure of the solution in Power Automate's visual representation of it.

I´ve just found this topic about this issue and I am really not happy about this as I see no change has been made until these days. I tried to ask COPILOT about this and I´ve received this information:

Rearranging case switch conditions within a flow in Power Automate can indeed be a bit tricky. While you can easily drag and reorder actions, the same doesn’t apply directly to cases within a switch action. However, I’ve got a workaround for you:

    1. Export and Reorder:

      • Export your flow to a .zip file.
      • Open the exported .zip file and locate the .json file corresponding to your flow.
      • Edit the .json file (you can use a text editor).
      • Find the section related to your switch action and reorder the cases as desired.
      • Save the changes and re-import the modified .zip file back into Power Automate.
    2. Alternative Solution (if you prefer not to mess with the exported file):

      • Create a new switch action.
      • Add cases in the desired order.
      • Copy the existing conditions and actions from your original switch to the new one.
      • Delete the old switch action.

Remember, this isn’t the most elegant solution, but it should help you achieve the desired order for better clarity in your flow. Hopefully, Microsoft will enhance this feature in the future to make case reordering more straightforward! 🚀

Another problem is that I cannot see the way how to export flow to a .zip file. 😄 "To easily share a Power Automate Desktop flow with a colleague, follow these steps to export it as a.zip file: Open Power Automate Desktop and go to the Flows tab. Select the flow you want to export. Click on the “Export” button. Choose the “Export as.zip file” option. Select the location where you want to save the exported file."

I just can´t see the option there.

Ok, last thing about the info I wrote - it seems like I need to have "Power Automate Premium" for making exports. So I am where I was before. 😄
