When adding/uploading more than 2 knowledge base sources directly in CoPilot Studio a System Error is generated by the Bot.

Sorry, something went wrong. Error code: SystemError. Conversation ID: ced5f0a6-353f-43d3-af63-667e426c7b8d. Time (UTC): 10/17/2024 9:35:01 AM.

For example:
I have made a pointer to a specific SharePoint site.
I have added our corporate website.

All works as expected but if I upload a third resource, a spreadsheet, the bot replies with System Error.
If I remove the corporate website and then upload the same spreadsheet, things work as expected.

No matter what uploaded/added resources I use as soon as I add a third resource the bot response with System Error.

As long as I have no more than 2 knowledge sources it will work The error doesn't appear. It appears when I add a third knowledge source.
  • This happens inside the copilot studio test environment, in the demo website environment and within a Teams channel.
  • It's not a specific knowledge source because I have tried different combinations. It's definitely the number of resources not the source of the resource that is a problem.

I have seen numerous posts about System Error where the cause hasn't been identified, however with my scenario it's constantly repeatable.  A third resource will break the CoPilot bot.

According to online resources this should indeed be possible, with up to 500 resources

However whenever I add a third, the bot will reply with a System Error.  This happens regardless as to what that knowledge source is, and regardless to the interface such as copilot studio test, web demo test, or teams.

    Generally this should be possible.

Might be the error is temporary.

You can raise a ticket with Microsoft if you still face the issue. Might be related to Environment.

    Thanks.

SH-17101821-0  Does the error go away if you reduce your knowledge resources to 2 items?

Would be great to confirm that it's definitely an issue with the number of resources rather than some weird error that just seems to effect my tenant.

Have the same issue, but wasn't aware of the apparent cause being more than 2 knowledge items. I have several dozen knowledge items, mainly PDFs. The copilot worked in Copilot Studio in testing for about 30 minutes then started throwing a "Sorry, something went wrong. Error code: SystemError. Conversation ID....." error, and since then, throws this error every single time. Frustrating.

System Error: When uploading more than 2 knowledge bases directly to CoPilot studio
    Hi Tom

I can add resources no problem, but when I go to use the BOT I get the System Error.

The error doesn't happen when adding the resource, it happens when I use a bot that references 3 or more resources.
If I have 2 resources (any resources) it works. If I have more than 2 resources the bot will error.
It's been like that a while now so I don't think it's a temporary blip.
Likewise, its definitely not a folder permission because if I remove a previous resource, the 'new' resource will then start working as expected.

Now that you have 3 resources in your knowledge base, does your BOT continue to work after publishing it?

    Hi,

Note sure what the issue may be; other than temporary.  Confirm you have the correct permissions for the given folders/files.  I was unable to duplicate.
