Greetings all,

Based on the article here Set a SharePoint Group owner with Power Automate - ESPC Conference, 2025 , a few months ago I built out  a solution that selects a group and inputs it as the owner in another group.

This was working as intended,  until a few days ago when I started receiving the following error.
[
  {
    "SchemaVersion""15.0.0.0",
    "LibraryVersion""16.0.25926.12009",
    "ErrorInfo": {
      "ErrorMessage""Root element is missing.",
      "ErrorValue"null,
      "TraceCorrelationId""f67793a1-f01d-9000-6f9f-900eeaf4a26d",
      "ErrorCode"-1,
      "ErrorTypeName""System.Xml.XmlException"
    },
    "TraceCorrelationId""f67793a1-f01d-9000-6f9f-900eeaf4a26d"
  }
]

The extremely weird thing is nothing was changed from my/our end, one day it just stopped working. I have done extensive research and looked everywhere but to no avail. If anyone has any suggestions on how this might be resolved it would be extremely appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Giannis

    Have you double checked the outputs of your Compose. Can you make sure it is using the right ids for the created group, owners group and site id?

    Can you also share that xml as a code snippet? This will help troubleshooting.

    Hello @Expiscornovus,

    Indeed, I have checked the Ids and they are correct. The site Id is initialized at the beginning of the flow and is correct. The groups I create with the flow and then parse json to extract the ID. In the following code snippet, because my user is inputted as the owner, I change the group owner to the group itself, that is why it is the same id in both groups. Let me know if you see anything unusual. Again, this used to work just fine up until a some days ago.

    Can you remove the comment lines from the xml and try again?

    @Expiscornovus you are a life saver.

    It did not cross my mind to do so, as the comments have always been there. Very curious one day they started affecting the flow's performance even though they previously did not.
