Flow to automate email from MS List

Hello! My flow aims to email when a specific task is updated in MS Sharepoint/Lists. The problem I'm having is the last step, "send an email (V2)," because it sends about 30 repeat emails without any sign of stopping. It got so bad that I had to go in and cancel the flow manually.

My flow starts with "when an item is created or modified" from my team's specific MS List. I then have "Get my profile (V2)" so that it can use information from my profile downstream. The following "Get items" specifies the changed criteria, which will spur the email. So, in my example, when someone changes the project to "funding committed," it should produce the email. In the image, I have the email addresses hidden but had it set to the appropriate POC, including the project coordinator that it gathered from the project.

Does anyone see apparent mistakes? Overall, the flow works but sends 30+ versions of the desired email!

@Myndi You should be using the Get Item action in your flow instead of the Get Items action. The Get Items action will return all items from your list.

Take a look a this YT Tutorial I recently uploaded: 3 Mistakes YOU 🫵 are Making with the Apply to Each Action in your Microsoft Power Automate Flow

In this video tutorial I’ll go over how to avoid these common mistakes when using the Apply to Each action in a Power Automate flow:

    1️⃣Looping through a Single Item

    2️⃣ Creating Unnecessary Nested Loops

3️⃣ Looping through an Unfiltered Array

At the end of the video I share a few helpful insights when it comes to using the Apply to Each action in your flow.

    I'll also cover:

How to avoid the Apply to Each action with a single item array

How to use the item() function to access dynamic content in an array

How to prevent unnecessary nested Apply to Each action loops

How to use the Select action

How to convert an array to a string with the Select action

How to use the Filter Query field

How to count the number of items in an array

How to use a condition control

How to use the concurrency control

How to set a top count

How to use Compose actions for troubleshooting

    Hope this helps!
