Submit form to edit a Sharepoint item, not create a new record

I have an EditForm, which is in Edit mode, and the fields are from a sharepoint list. I select an item from a dropdown, and the fields are populated based on the selected item, which is a sharepoint item. I then have a button to SubmitForm, but this creates a new item. I've read around and it says it should work as an edit function as well, not just for creating new records. What do I have to configure with a form to make it edit instead of create new?

YOu can Use NewForm Function for Creating New Record.

Like below -
NewForm(FormName);
