Scheduling A Reminder Email for Tasks Due

Hoping someone can help me with what should be a really simple flow! I've watched many YouTube videos on this topic but still can't quite get the scheduled flow that I want to happen to work.

Currently I have an instant flow set up that, when I trigger it manually 7 days prior to the Due Date, will send one email to each Author with a table that lists out the topics that are required by the Due Date - works perfectly every time I trigger it but there must be an easy way to set this up so that I don't have to manually trigger the flow??

This is my excel spreadsheet:

And here is my Instant Flow that works perfectly when I trigger it:

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated where you can actually show me a scheduled flow that will email just one table to each author that shows them all their topics that are due in 7 days time.

Thanks

Meagan

    Hi @meaganleigh ,

Please use [Recurrence] to trigger every morning at 8:00
【List rows present in a table】Use filter query to filter according to ReminderDate, if the date is the same as today's date, the result will be filtered out

In order to avoid the situation where [List rows present in a table] does not filter out the results, we need to use [Condition] to judge the length of the value

    vchengfenmsft_1-1673494476913.png

If the length is greater than 0, continue 【Select】

    Thank you so much!

I set the flow up as you suggested and initially I was getting the following error message about the expression that you suggested to use as the [List rows present in a table] filter query:

    meaganleigh_0-1673561277151.png

So I changed the expression to

formatDateTime(convertFromUtc(utcNow(), 'New Zealand Standard Time'), 'yyyy-MM-dd') and the flow ran perfectly at the time I scheduled it for but I suspect that the expression I put in will just make the flow run every day.

Is there any other way that you know of, like a trigger perhaps in Recurrence that I could set to say run this flow if the date equals 13 January 2023?

    Many thanks
    Meagan

    Hi @meaganleigh ,

Do you only want the flow to fire on a certain day?

    Please try:

Here is a link about trigger condition for your reference:

    Thanks Cheng

Yes you are correct, I'd only like the flow to fire on the Reminder Date.

I've just tried your suggestion but when I save the flow I get an error message - I just can't figure out how to set a trigger that says to only fire the flow if the Reminder Date on my excel worksheet matches todays date.

I'm starting to think I might just be best to create a manual flow, set an outlook reminder to myself on the date the reminders are to be emailed and simply run the flow on that date - it kind of defeats the purpose of power automate though doesn't it! hahaha

    Hi @meaganleigh ,

It is recommended to perform a manual test again.
