Want to trigger automated refresh for different Power bi datasets based on scheduled refresh failure.

Hi,

We have different datasets and related workbooks in Power bi Service Workspace
Eg:

Dataset Name (Report name)
1. Sales Dataset (Sales Report)
2. Revenue Dataset (Revenue Report)
3. Orders Dataset. (Orders Report)
Whenever a scheduled refresh failed, we receive mail notification with following Subject.

Eg:

Subject: Refresh failed: Sales Report

Reason for failure: Timeout error or .............

Subject: Refresh failed: Revenue Report

Reason for failure: ........................

.

.

.

.

I can create a different automated flows to trigger a refresh for dataset based on mail notification.

But I want to create single flow which can trigger refresh for a dataset  that is failed. (i.e., the flow must be dynamic to trigger refresh for failed dataset)

Eg: If Sales dataset refresh failed, then that flow must trigger refresh for Sales dataset

If Revenue dataset refresh failed, then the same flow must trigger refresh for Revenue dataset................

Please help me to do it.

Thanks,

AshDil

    Hi @AshDil ,

Could you please share more details about your scenario?

As I can see, there is no action to retrieve the dataset id to use for the refresh action. So as the alternate, you need to create a variable and append a hardcoded dataset ID inside a Switch control based on the email subject, and use this variable in the refresh action, enter custom value of the Dataset.

You can get the dataset ID from the URL, check below blog:

    Hope this helps.

How do you get the dataset group and id dynamically from the email? I'm currently stuck on this.
