Create CDX Tenant with Flow

Hello everyone,
Is it possible to create a CDX environment with Power Automate Flows?
I have created a form with a Power App, which is saved in a Sharepoint list. Now I would like to create a CDX environment for the new entries in the list via Flows.
Is this possible?
Are there other ways to create a CDX environment fully automatically?

    Hi @AlexStuermer,

I haven't seen any docs/information about APIs on the CDX portal. So, as far as I am aware that would not be possible with Power Automate cloud flows. You might be able to achieve this with desktop flows (RPA) though.

Out of interest, what is the use case for automating this? Can you share a bit more details why you want to automate this?

Correct me if I am wrong, but creating a new environment in CDX is about three clicks (My Environments > Create Tenant > Create Tenant next to the Content Pack)?

And you can only have 6 demo tenants at the same time. All sounds pretty manageable without any automation imho. But maybe I am wrong? 😀

    Hi @Expiscornovus,

It is to be a prototype. Colleagues can request a demo environment via a Power App, which will then be created automatically. The ultimate aim is to be able to offer this option to interested parties.
I hope it is reasonably understandable.
I know myself that it only takes a few clicks to create a CDX, but I want this to happen automatically. That's why I'm looking for a solution.

    Hi @AlexStuermer,

Thanks for clarifying, yes that is understandable.

In that case I would suggest to have a look at a desktop flow. Have a look at the Browser automaton actions for this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/desktop-flows/actions-reference/webautomation

For that interested parties scenario I would also double check the T&C's to see what you are allowed to do with CDX environments. Just in case: https://cdx.transform.microsoft.com/profile/terms-of-use

    Hi @Expiscornovus

    Thank you for the information.

I came across this documentation by chance:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/administration/onboarding-signupcontext#constructing-the-sign-up-url-including-the-sign-up-context.

I am not familiar with it at all, but maybe it is possible to create a demo version with the SignupContext with Power Automate.

    Hi @AlexStuermer,

Personally I don't have experience with using the SignupContext parameter/method.

But it looks like the SignupContext is only for Business Central/Dynamics type of environments. I assume you want to create other type of environments, like M365?

    Hi @Expiscornovus

I think I only need a Business Central demo version and no other M365. Accordingly, the SingupContext should be sufficient. Maybe I'll get smarter from the documentation and can implement this in a Flow

    Hi @AlexStuermer,

Good to know you are only interested in Business Central.

In that case you might be able to construct that final signup url with a concat function in your flow based on the answers in your Power App. And POST that final signup url in a HTTP action in your flow to sign up.
