Can't get data from SharePoint Person or Group column

ReportReport

 Hello everyone !

I am using the Expense Report template from powerapps.

After installing the app and trying to test it, the field Approver didn't find any data from the column ApproverName in SharePoint while the type of this column in the list is Person or Group.

By default the function of this field is Choices(Expenses, ApproverName).

I have invited all the users to whom will use the lists in the site. Also the users already exist in Azure Active Directory.

So what should be the function to read data from the ApproverName column in the list ?

Here are some screenshots about the Data of Approver fields:

Thank you!!

Did you make sure you followed the setup instructions at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/expense-report-install to create the SharePoint list behind the app and switch it over to use SharePoint as a data source?

    Hi @Pstork1

Yes i followed this tutorial to install the expense report.

I have created both lists in SharePoint, and i removed the default connections from data source and i have added back the SharePoint connections containing those lists (Expenses, LineItems).

I can read the data from CostCenter column in SharePoint that means i am connected but the Approver field didn't find any kind of data to read the users.

Here is a screenshot of CostCenter values between the SharePoint list and Powerapps:

And here is the issue in the Approver field in PowerApps:

    Thank you!!

    @Pstork1

I have fixed some errors and now i got 0 errors in the Appchecker but the issue remain the same.

The Approver field is not reading any data from the ApproverName column in SharePoint list of type (Person or Group).

The function of the Approver Field is Choices(Expenses.ApproverName).

    No data.PNG

What kind of functions we should use to trigger the users ?

I can read data from other fields, but i have no idea why this field won't read data it's weird..

I haven't played with that sample for a long time.  What kind of data card or control are you populating with ApproverName?

    Hi @Pstork1

As i understand from your question,  the Data of this combo box by default is the following:

    ScreenshotI.PNG

and here is the ApproverName column settings in SharePoint:

    SettingsApproverName.PNG

I didn't change anything in the app, I just imported the app from the documentation as it is.

Maybe if you will install it back again you will see the issue.

    Thank you !

I pulled up a copy of the App this morning and worked through hooking it up to SharePoint.  I found at least one typo in the instructions, "Cost Center" column needs to be created as "CostCenter" (no space).  Other than that, and a lot of delegation warnings, mine ran without a problem.  For the Approver Name field.  It is setup to use a Search combobox rather than a dropdown.  You have to click into the box and start typing a name.  That will give you a dropdown list that match what you typed at which point you can pick one of them.  Here's a screenshot.

    Hi @Pstork1

Yes there is a lot of warnings on startup, i ignored them.
I can see the data from CostCenter that i added them in the list that means i am connected to the right list.

The problem when i click on the Approver field i can't even type to search for users.
I tried something when i switch the ApporverName column in SharePoint to People and Groups instead of people only it shows (Everyone except extranl users).

    Everyone Except.PNG

and i tried to add new Drop down with the following function Expenses.ApproverName  also didn't find the users.

    Capture.PNG
But also i can't type to search for users, even i can't type to find myself.

Can you please show me screenshot of the Data of the combo box ? Or what may be the problem ?

    Thank you!

Switch the column back to people only.  When you click in the box you should be able to type a couple characters and get a list like the one you show.  Your settings are the same as mine.  I'm not sure why its not working for you.  Everything looks to be configured correctly.
