Create a business process flow

Hi

I am trying to experiment with the new Business Process Flows. When I click on the tab I see a "you dont have a database message". I have tried to create a database in the flow administration center but I receive a "Creating databases in default environments isn’t available right now, but will be back at a later date." error message. Can some please explain the cause and how to resolve so I can start creating these flows? Screenshots below for context.

Thanks

Adrian

    Hi Iddy,

I found your post after encountering the same error.  It seems that creating a database in a default environment is temporarily broken and unavailable.  This is only disabled for default environments, so if you cannot wait for this functionality to be restored, consider creating a new production environment.  You can also take this as an opportunity to build isolation, for instance, if you are designing employee onboarding flows, you could make a "Human Resources" environment.

Keep in mind that while isolation is great from a security perspective, you will not be able to call flows or connectors located outside the environment.  Read more here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/flow/environments-overview-admin

I wish I could tell you when this functionality will be restored for default environments, but only the Flow team knows that.  Could be hours, could be weeks.

    Hi @Iddy,

Creating databases in default environments isn’t supported in microsoft flow currently,

I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs to create databases in default environments in Microsoft Flow currently.

If you would like this feature to create databases in default environments to be added in Microsoft Flow, please submit an idea to Flow Ideas Forum:

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Flow-Ideas/idb-p/FlowIdeas

As an alternative way, you could considering create databases in your costom environments.

    Best regards,

    Alice

I resolved my issue. My problem wasn’t that I wanted to create a database in my default environment - I was just trying to experiment with the new flow capabilities. What I hadn’t realised is that you need to be conscious of the environment you are working in - the magic happens just under your profile details (screenshot below). Once I selected an appropriate environment (you can’t use your default) every lit up and I could continue my studies.

However, IMHO the UI here is very confusing here, rather than saying "create a database" (which depending on your environment you can’t) it would be much better saying something like "select another environment, create a new environment or create a new database (if you are in a suitable environment and no database has been provisioned)" - hope this helps others who are similarly confused.
