I do not understand why the Send an email does nothing?!

I'm trying to create a new Flow, rolling my own. This is the first time I've done this. I want it to be a Flow that is trigger by a button in the Flow app on my phone. So, the trigger is a manual one. That's OK. I discovered that I could put in a selection list in the trigger. This was ideal, as I wanted to have 1 of 4 different messages that I'd send to my work email account. Things really looked like they'd work.

After a lot of looking around I found an action named Send an email. This looked like it would work (and the one using Office 365 failed miserably, but then I realized that probably the Office 365 actions would work with either the Outlook app on my desktop or my phone. All I need to do is send an email from my Microsoft account, using Outlook.com.) So, I choose the Send an email action. I got into the advanced options and specified my work email account, I put the dynamic option Input in the Subject line and I put some static text into the body of the email. I'm guessing that Input that I used for the Subject line, is taken from the selection I'll make when selecting that button in the Flow app. So, I thought all was good. I went to test it.

That failed to work. When I tested it on the Flow website, I was able to make my selection of one of the 4 options. Then it just sat there. I even tested it on my phone. I could select one of the 4 options, but again it just sat there, doing nothing.

I don't get this. What in heck in Send an email for, if it doesn't send an email? What magic incantation do I need to recite, what secret handshake is it that I don't know, what in heck am I supposed to do at this point to make it actually send an email to my work email account?

    @rfalanga:

Send an email does, in fact, send an email.

Can you post a screenshot of your Flow?  That will make it much easier to assist.

    Hi @rfalanga,

Could you share a screenshot of your Flow creation?

I have tested on my side, at least this action is currently working, I think you may not notice some details.

    First configure the connection.

Then make sure that the email address you fill in To field is valid and that you are expected to receive the email address.

The email generated from Send an email action will be sent to the email address you configured in To field.

Note that if you need to configure multiple email addresses, you must separate them with a semicolon.

Please also refer to the online doc, which can be used as a reference for the basic configuration of the Email connector:

    Best Regards,

    Barry

That's weird. I'd swear that I shared some screen shots of my Flow. I've no idea why they aren't there now.

Thank you for saying what you did. It helped me to rethink what I'd done. I put my work email address into the trigger (the button), just because I thought it had to go there. I figured it had to go someplace. I saw I could enter an email address, so I thought that's where it was supposed to go. Anyway, I took it out, then tested it. It worked. Then I tested it on my phone. It worked again.

This is great! Exactly what I wanted without having to get into Outlook.com to send 1 of 4 emails to myself. Now I can select what I want to send it. Perfect.

BTW Barry, I'd love to make your message as the solution, but every time I try to do so I get this very irritatting message (see below). I'm using MS Edge. Does Microsoft hate it's own browser? Since I cannot mark anything a solution using Edge in this forum, please consider your answer the solution.

Authentication failed for the action you are trying to do. This failure could be due to your browser not supporting JavaScript, JavaScript not being enabled, or trying to use the action URL directly in the browser address bar instead of clicking the link on the page.
