Issue with PowerApps using Custom connectors

Hello everyone,

I'm encountering a problem related to PowerApps and custom connectors. Initially, I created a custom connector without any authentication, and I could successfully read the data both in the custom connector itself and within the app. However, I needed to enhance security by implementing Azure AD authentication for the custom connector. I made the necessary changes in the security settings to use OAuth 2 authentication with Azure AD.

During testing, the custom connector successfully fetched the data. However, when I refresh the custom connector within PowerApps, it doesn't retrieve any data. Even if I remove the custom connector and then re-add it, PowerApps throws an error. I would greatly appreciate any insights or assistance with this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks & Regards,

Prema

It sounds like you've encountered an issue with your custom connector after implementing Azure AD authentication. Here's a potential solution to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

    1. Update Custom Connector Definitions: First, make sure your custom connector's definitions are updated to reflect the changes you made for Azure AD authentication. Ensure that you've properly configured the OAuth 2 authentication settings, including the authorization and token URLs.

    2. Update Permissions and Scopes: Check that you've configured the correct permissions and scopes in your Azure AD application registration. The scopes you request during authentication should match the scopes required by the API you're connecting to. If these are misconfigured, it could lead to authentication issues.

    3. Update Connector in PowerApps: If you've made changes to your custom connector's definitions, it's crucial to update the connector in PowerApps to reflect those changes. To do this, follow these steps:

      a. In PowerApps, go to the "View" tab. b. Click on "Data sources" to view your connectors. c. Select your custom connector and click on "Refresh". d. If prompted, provide the necessary credentials for authentication.

    4. Check Authorization Configuration: Verify that the Azure AD app registration has the correct redirect URLs and has been granted the necessary API permissions. Ensure that the redirect URL in your app registration matches the one specified in your custom connector's authentication settings.

    5. Check Authentication Flow: Review the authentication flow in your custom connector. Make sure it's configured correctly to obtain and refresh tokens using the OAuth 2 authentication process.

    6. Check API Endpoints: Ensure that the API endpoints you're trying to access are correct and functional. Sometimes issues with the API itself can cause problems with data retrieval.

    7. Test the Connector Outside PowerApps: Use tools like Postman to test your custom connector's authentication and API requests separately. This can help you isolate whether the issue is with the connector's configuration or PowerApps itself.

    8. Contact Microsoft Support: If you've followed these steps and the issue persists, you might need to contact Microsoft Support or refer to their official documentation for more advanced troubleshooting steps.

Remember that Azure AD authentication involves several components, and a misconfiguration at any point can cause issues. Double-check all settings, update your custom connector within PowerApps, and ensure that your Azure AD app registration is correctly set up with the required permissions and scopes.

    Hi @hasnainhaider68 ,

I can successfully obtain the data within Custom connectors during testing, but I'm encountering difficulties in retrieving the data within PowerApps.
    Thanks,

    Prema
