UI Automation: Inconsistent Window Name

Hi all,

I am having an issue with PAD UI automation. I created a flow to automate a process in a legacy application that my organization uses. The flow works perfectly on the machine I built it on. The issue is that when I run the flow on a different desktop, it gives a UI element not found error. After I remap the UI elements the flow works properly on the desired machine.

I think the issue is that even though the buttons and layout of the application is the same on every computer, the window title in the app displays a different code that is linked to each unique device when you log in to the app using a different machine. I noticed that the ids for the UI elements are the same on the different computers. Has anyone run into a similar issue before.

I believe a way to solve this is to map the actions to the ids of the UI elements dynamically, the same way you might do for web automation but there doesn't seem to be an option for that with UI Automation.

Please assist, any and all suggestions are welcome.

You probably just need to modify the parent Window element. When you have a UI element, it will usually be captured under a parent Window element that will have its own selector. If your application window title can have some dynamic values in there, based on the machine/user, you might want to remove the name parameter from the window selector.

See this image for reference on how to find it:
