i have trained a model based on a data type for a feild. now i need to change the data type . lets say from number to text. should i have to retrain the model again for all the documents? because the location where the field resides is same

Unfortunately, it's not possible to change the type of a field.
You need to create a new field with the correct format and delete the existing one. Then you just need to place the new field on each file in the training set and retrain the model.
