SQL Server Database Security

Hello People,

 

I have a general question regarding the connecting On-Premise database. What are the benefits of using SQL server user vs My own credentials? (I have administrative rights to the database.) Are there any limitations on using SQL users to connect to the database?

    Two reasons

    1. As an admin you have more permissions than the connector actually needs.  So if someone were to hack the connection they could do things they might not be able to do with a service account
    2. If the connection is built off your account and you leave the company the connection will fail after your credentials are disabled.

    Neither is a huge risk in most cases, but why have the risk if you don't need to.
