Using Flow for programme tasks - how to trigger on event?

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a Flow to automate document uploads an notifications for a leadership programme. On specific dates over a three-month period, we need to release new documents and let people know that we've done this.

What should I use to trigger the timed events, given that they don't happen regularly? I was wondering about Planner, but would a calendar be better?

Thanks in advance for any help 🙂

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @hwysome ,

Could you tell more details about "automate document uploads an notifications"?

If the file is uploaded to SharePoint, you might consider creating a field like Due Date to record when the notification needs to be sent.

Use Recurrence as the trigger to check whether the Due Date of Files in the Library is equal the current date, and if so, send notification.

Hope it helps. If this does not meet your needs, please provide more details so that we can provide the appropriate workaround.

    Best Regards,

Thanks for this Barry.  I think that's what I need, but I can't work out how to set up the recurrence trigger to check the due date. Would you be able to screenshot what this should look like? Really grateful for your help.

    Hi @hwysome ,

Set Recurrence to trigger once a day, then get all the files in the Library.

Create a Due Date field in the Library with type Date. Use Condition to determine whether the Due Date is equal to current date. If they are equal, send a notification.

Thanks. I've almost got it. Last part is the ActionBranchingConditionNotSatisfied error. I think it's because I've got nothing in the 'X' option. How do I fix this?

    Hi @hwysome ,

What's your conditional expression? Compare the dude date with today's date?4

    Thanks

Yes - that's right. If the dates match, the mail and the Teams message should be sent.

    Hi @hwysome ,

    Thanks for your quick reply.

Do you have a valid data which should satisfy the condition?

Check the format of the dates. Check the run history and check the dates from the relevant step.

That could be an issue here.

    Thanks

Hi - I've checked the dates and am satisfied that they match. Is there anything else I can try?

    Hi @hwysome ,

I did tried now and I have managed to successfully satisfied the condition.
